Remember my last post of Huruli Saaru / Horse gram Rasam ,  where I had shared just half the recipe of it and had kept aside cooked horse gram to use later? So as promised, today I am back with part 2 of it – using the cooked horsegram in making  this tasty and healthy protein rich side dish ” Horsegram Usli / Huruli Usli“.It’s also known as Kollu sundal in Tamil. Enjoy it as a side dish along with huruli saaru and rice or enjoy just this usli as a snack.

Bassaru made with Horse gram is basically a two in one dish . Here , horsegram is cooked nicely and strained to get a very flavorful broth. The broth is later boiled with freshly ground spices and tempered. The cooked horse gram is then turned into a simple stir-fry (usli) flavored with lots of onion, and grated coconut.

Spicy Hurli kalu bassaru,Usli, little ghee,Ragi Mudde / Rice is one awesome combination…. a healthy super tasty meal in itself .. especially during winters !
