Last couple of months has been too hectic for the family …Too many things happened all together and we were just rushing to finish everything on time . Finally when we winded up everything .. phew !!! We just wanted a break and decided to have a family vacation in the princely state of Rajasthan !!! After we zeroed on the itenary , I started to look out for some nice hotel . Coincidently , at the same time I received an invite from The Ummed Hotels , Jodhpur to experience their property .Since Jodhpur was there in our travel plan … I was more than happy to take on this offer and enjoy the royal hospitality at Rajasthan .

Little away from the city hustle bustle , this hotel is located in a very tranquil area.. we could feel peace everywhere. As soon as we reached the hotel, it was very warm of the staff to greet us the royal way and the welcome drink provided immediately refreshed us .. after a really long travel from Jaisalmer .
We quickly settled in our luxury suite , which was beautifully decorated for us. The rooms are very spacious and overlook the beautiful inner courtyards and the vast lawns situated on the ground floor.
The Luxury and Royal suites feature separate living areas, king size master bedroom, attached bathroom, changing rooms and private sit-outs. These suites are furnished with elegant poster beds, armchairs and carved teak wood furniture and decorated with local Rajasthan crafts. One can enjoy Free Wireless high speed internet in the resort and stay connected with the outside world. All rooms have Mini- bar, personal safe, individually controlled air conditioning, coffee and tea making facilities ,refreshments , TV etc . The hotel offers its customers various accommodation options from spacious rooms for couples to Royal suites catering to the needs and budget .
After a quick freshen up , we stepped out of room for lunch . The restaurant staffs had come in to check our food preferences for the lunch while we checked in and by the time we were ready for lnch , a tasty authentic Rajasthani thali was ready . I must admit .. though we had been eating rajasthani food from past 3-4 days before checking in Ummed… this was the best . We got to taste Rajasthan special Ker Sangri and the chef gave us a small brief about its availability , why it’s one of the most expensive veggie etc ..I hope to try making this unique dish one day in my kitchen and share with you all !
The delicious and heavy food got me all set for the afternoon siesta. After relaxing for few hours in the room, we took a walk through the property and were amazed at its beauty. The highlight of the hotel is the interiors and the corridors of the hotel which are tastefully decorated . It can be really seen that a lot of endeavor has been put in decorating and cleanly maintaining every section of the hotel… be it the reception area, the luxury suites, the pool side, the inside courtyard, the bar, the restaurants, the banquet halls or the Spa. Nothing is gaudy.. yet grand , royal and luxurious … The large green spaces , chirping birds adds in lots of soothing vibes . The hotel offers wellness spa but unfortunately this was under renovation when we visited.
The Ummed Jodhpur has been the preferred venue for the region’s most glamorous weddings. Never-ending landscaped areas provide for great venues to be decorated and brought alive as per the guest’s preference. There are multiple car parking spaces to hold more than 500 vehicles. Wow !! Isn’t it ??
There are meeting rooms and banquet halls for corporate meetings and private party holdings too .
This property is a photographer’s delight and a models dream come true. I am basically a camera conscious person .. but the ambience at The Ummed provoked me to pose for few pics. 🙂
By the time we had finished a walk around , the hotel staff had set up evening tea and snacks for us in the open courtyard . Though we were really full from the afternoon feast .. i didn’t want to miss out enjoying a cup of tea in the lovely ambience .
Post tea , we decided to take a dip at the pool , play some board games and spend some family time before we proceeded for dinner.
The restaurant offers 4 location options for dining. You may either have in the “ Sir P ” All day dining restaurant, or the courtyard Char Bagh “Open air barbeque Restaurant”, or the Amrit Sagar” Colonial Sports Bar (here kids are not allowed) and occasionally along the poolside.
Since , it was a full moon day we decided to have our dinner in the char bagh with a candle light setting and with live melodious Rajasthani folk songs in the background . Does it not sound romantic ..I must say it is one of our memorable dining experience .
The food options include from traditional Rajasthani thali to continental. It is very obliging of the restaurant staff to enquire our preferences in advance before we reach the dining room. The food was good, be it the huge breakfast buffet, the Royal Khaas – e – Thal Rajasthani lunch, Petite High tea with snacks or the night barbeque and dinner.
The Ummed Hotel starts to grow on you almost immediately as soon as you step in. The green atmosphere, the spacious rooms and laid back atmosphere coupled with one of the best grandeur royal ambiance draws you too soon into it. We were overwhelmed by the hospitality of the management at the Ummed Hotel. Overall the experience at the Ummed was so good that I can definitely recommend this for my traveler friends…
