To the same pan add green chilli and chopped Onion .Fry for a 2-3 mins. Let they get translucent and raw smell of onion go.
Switch off and add coconut. Just saute a min . Allow all the ingredients to cool .
Transfer to a mixer after the ingredients are well cooled . Add salt and little water as required for grinding .
Grind to form a smooth paste which looks almost like a chutney .
Transfer the ground paste to a serving bowl . Add curd / butter milk and combine everything well. Add some water and adjust consistency of tambli .
Finally prepare a tempering . Heat ghee . Splutter mustard . Add few broken pieces of curd chilli and few Curry leaves. Let they get crisp. Pour the tempering to the mixing bowl .
Serve Onion thambli with hot rice .Keep in fridge if not using immediately to prevent curd from souring.
