Wash the tuvar dal well and soak it for 30 mins – 1 hour .
Clean and wash the methi leaves thoroughly . Chop the methi leaves finely. Keep aside.
To a pressure cooker , Add tsp of oil and add drained soaked Dal . Saute 2-3 mins
Later , add chopped leaves, diced onion, Diced Tomato , Green chillies , turmeric powder
Add water enough to. Pressure cook for 3 whistle
Once pressure releases , mash the cooked dal . You will see that the dal would have cooked soft and creamy.
Add salt to taste ,red chilli powder and tamarind water . Combine well .
Add water to adjust the consistency . Simmer and boil dal for 3-4 mins.
Heat ghee in a small pan. When the ghee is hot, splutter mustard and add jeera . Add crushed garlic . When it gets dried golden , add hing , curry leaves and broken dry red chilli .
Enjoy this tasty Methi Dal with some hot rice, little ghee and some papad … a comforting meal is ready !!
