7 foods that may heal nerve damage

Most diseases or disorders come along due to poor lifestyle choices; and nerve damage can be brought about by poor diet, lack of or insufficient physical exercise and excessive body weight. Nerve damage needs a lot of time and patience to heal as a long process of treatment is necessary to cure it properly. However, you shouldn’t stress out if you are suffering from nerve damage as you can easily manage and come out of the agony by just eating some locally-available, healthy and appropriate foods such as:

  • Celery

Celery, also known as marsh water Parsley or smallage, is one of the most effective natural cures used for pain resulting from nerve damage.   1. Honey and soymilk

Soymilk has medicinal ingredients which when mixed with honey, has powerful effect on pain caused by damaged nerves. The mixture is taken at regular intervals, like thrice per day for maximum efficiency.

  1. Garlic milk

Garlic milk is rich in anti-inflammatory properties as well as antispasmodic properties and that makes it an effective nerve pain remedy. You can prepare garlic milk by crushing two garlic cloves, add them to a half cup of milk and then boil the mixture. Crushed garlic mixed with warm mustard oil can also be of great benefit in relieving nerve pain if massaged over a painful area as a result of nerve damage.

  1. Vitamin B12 Foods

Foods rich in vitamin B12 play a significant role in the repair as well as the maintenance of nerve cells, especially  the myelin sheath, a cover which protects the nerves. Also, Vitamin B12 foods come in handy in the healing of damaged nerves. Such foods include calf’s liver, sardines, snapper, , lean beef tenderloin, , scallops, shrimp, halibut, lamb loin and Chinook salmon.

  1. Antioxidant Foods

Antioxidant-rich foods such as blueberries, raspberries, , tomatoes, red grapes, garlic, spinach, carrots, pomegranates, dark chocolate green tea, blackberries and broccoli help in the neutralization of free radicals which cause nerve damage as a result of their interaction with cell tissues. These foods also help in the reduction of cancer and immune disease risks.

  1. Omega-3 fatty acid rich foods

Omega-3 fatty acid-rich foods such as flaxseeds, walnuts, soybeans, coldwater fish, shrimp and tofu have anti-inflammatory elements which reduce the inflammation which causes nerve damages. Coldwater fish include snapper, sardines, trout, halibut, tuna as well as salmon.
