RETURN OF TIGER TRAIL , RAMADA BANGALORE – A RESTAURANT REVIEW

Very recently  I was invited along with my family to enjoy the special weekend lunch at the restaurant “Return of Tiger Trail”, Ramada Bangalore. Since it was a weekend , me and family decided to visit the restaurant together  .

Before I talk about the food… here  are some information on the Hotel and their concept restaurant.

ABOUT HOTEL RAMADA

Hotel Ramada, Bangalore is part of the well known Royal Orchid group and offers good, luxurious  and affordable stay in the city. Its strategic location near the commercial street, its fine dining outlet, banqueting facilities and high-end amenities promises luxury and comfort to its customers.

CONCEPT BEHIND “TIGER TRAIL” RESTAURANT:

The concept behind the restaurant goes with the history that during the British era in India,  the English officers and some of the Indian kings went on trails across the subcontinent to hunt the ever-exclusive tiger. Those trips formed a sort of pattern, popularly known as “Tiger Trail”.

At the Tiger Trail restaurant, various royal cuisines are served  from these princely regions of this Tiger trail. The restaurant offers an exciting food safari, serving the modern and traditional cuisines from famous North Indian cuisine to Oriental and European cuisine as well.

AMBIENCE:

Return of Tiger Trail” is a cozy family restaurant where you can have a sumptuous  food along with your family and friends. As the name suggests the theme of the restaurant is based on the tiger trails with the walls and furniture adoring the maps of tiger trails,  the posters of tigers and information about the tigers in India.

FOOD:

The restaurant offers both royal vegetarian and non-veg food while the attached bar “Tiger’s Den” serves various brands of Indian and imported liquor, cocktails/ mocktails and fruit juices. There are special menu’s and offers for each day of the week.

Me being a vegetarian and a teetotaler , so here is what I got to taste…

WELCOME DRINKS:

As we settled down into our seats, we were served with sweet and salted lassi. My kids preferred to have watermelon juice instead. Both lassis and the juice were very refreshing. However I felt that the lassi was little heavy for me especially when you are starting a meal.

APPETIZERS

The drinks were accompanied by masala papad along with four types of dips: grape chutney, mint chutney, hung curd dip and tomato chutney. The grape chutney was a very delicious and very popular with my kids. My son licked it off clean !!

Next … as part of the chats, the pani puri was served to us along with 4 different flavors of pani: mint-lemon, mango, pepper rasam and tomato rasam.

This was followed by the vegetarian  starters… Kastoori Kebab (a Tiger Trail Classic), Mazedar Bhuttay , Cheese-baked Broccoli, and Paneer Takatak . All the starters were very tasty and delectable.

MAIN COURSE

Following the appetizers we were served the main course which included the Roti Ki Tokri (containing the Awadhi special Sheermal, Taftan Naan, Chironji Naan and Ajwani Naan) along with vegetable gravies… Dal Makhani and Kadai panneer, followed by the Kashmiri pulav and raitha. My pick for the day was Sheermal with Kadai paneer and Kushmiri Pulav.

My hubby tried the Tiger trail Veg Thali which in addition had the salad, dry lady’s finger subzi, dal thadka , and gulab jamoon. The taste of all the main course items were really good.

DESSERTS

Following the main course, we were served with the desserts.

The Khubani Ka Meetha (a delicacy made from juicy apricots layered with custard and fresh cream) was fresh and too tasty. The Rasmalai was very soft , juicy and fresh. We just couldn’t resist ordering a second serving. The Lucknowi phirni served in clay pot was also a delight.

The kids also ate the vanilla cakes, gulab jamoons and fruit melon slices.

The desserts was concluded with a classic vanilla icecream with Falooda.

All in all, the Tiger Trail team prepared and served us a sumptuous royal palette lunch, one of the best I had in recent times  and as unique as the safari itself.

Thanks to Royal Orchid and Ramada Hotels for hosting us for this lunch.
