SUNDAY BRUNCH AT LIMELIGHT , ROYAL ORCHIDS BANGALORE

Very recently I was invited along with my family to enjoy the special Sunday brunch at Limelight , Royal Orchid Bangalore. A leisurely Sunday and a brunch invite at a renowned hotel … how can I miss it…after all Sunday is meant for relaxation .

It was not the first time i was visiting Royal Orchid Old Airport road . But the Sunday brunch at Limelight was first . I had heard a lot about it’s lavishness and was excited to  try the wide spread of dishes from various cuisines catering to everyone’s pallet .

Striking the right location in the heart of the city, the restaurant is located at the lawn of the hotel amidst greeneries . The first impression for any one when you go to the hotel is just mesmerizing . The ambience is  so romantic, cozy and  initimate . The lawn , open garden , open kitchen , breezy air .. everything is so perfect to set the mood for anyone . Spread across 3 acres of tranquil space, strategic location, high-end amenities, and fine dining experience.. this luxurious hotel becomes the perfect choice for for business & leisure travelers to the city and ideal to hang around with family and friends …

CONCEPT BEHIND “SUNDAY BRUNCH”:

As the name suggests “Brunch” is a combination of breakfast and lunch eaten usually during the late morning to early afternoon. The initial concept of Brunch originated in England in the late 19th century and became popular in the US and other countries over the decades.

The “SUNDAY BRUNCH” at Royal Orchid takes this concept little further… enabling the families and friends to leisurely spend quality time across a table with sumptuous food while the little ones have some activities to play and enjoy around.

OUR SUNDAY BRUNCH EXPERIENCE :

After receiving a warm welcome , we were left to chose a place on our own depending on our preference . The food is served both indoors at “Limelight” or outdoor .Limelight is their trendy chic coffee shop . It is an all-day dining destination which remains open round-the-clock serving Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisines;

Whereas outdoors seating  is with cozy seating arrangement under a cool tiled roof overlooking the lush lawns and the shikari tents.

We chose outdoors as the kids wanted, along with the food, to spend some time playing in the lawns and doing some activities , while my hubby and I had a leisurely meal, with an eye on the kids. The main attractions for the kids are the open play area which has a trampoline, inflated air slides and two gazebos. In one of the gazebos, you have activities like face painting, tattoos and crafts. The 2nd gazebo is open for guests to relax.

The restaurant offers vegetarian and non-veg Indian, Chinese and Continental food with the attached bar serving various brands of Indian and imported liquor, cocktails/ mocktails and fruit juices.

As we settled down into our seats, we were greeted and served with refreshing fruit juices and mocktails. I chose orange juice, my hubby mint lemonade, my daughter watermelon juice and my son pinacolada.

The drinks were accompanied by the vegetarian starters… Veg momos, Paneer Takatak, Seekh Kebab, Mazedar Bhuttay , and Cheese-baked Broccoli. The starters were served along with three types of dips: grape chutney, mint chutney and tomato sauce. All the starters were very tasty and delectable. The grape chutney was a very delicious and very popular with my kids. My son licked it off clean!! All the kebabs were served from tiger trail kitchen .

Under the chaat section there was a cart itself where one could walk , choose and customize their plate of chat based on their taste  . Pani Puri ,dahi puri , Sev puri , papdi chat , Bhelpuri , dahi balla , tikki chat , aloo chat , samosa chat … phew i am sure i have missed few names … Being a chaat lover .. i tasted almost all of them and loved to the core !!! I know.. don’t stare me so … haha !!

Their brunch menu includes  various live counters for tandoori items, appam, chaat, pav bhaji, chinese items and more. In the pizza section one can make their own topping for pizza .My hubby took pav bhaji from one of the live counters while my kids ordered the veg pizza in another as part of their main course.

The salad counter .. how could i miss it .. everything looked so fresh …. !!

For the main course, we preferred to move around the buffet and try the various veg gravies , Appam with veg stew, Pastas ,vegetable biryani,Rice rasam , stir frys etc ….

Further to the buffet, there are live food and drink counters where you can see and choose what you want while they prepare fresh for you and serve you at your table.

At the table we were served with Bread Basket/ Roti Ki Tokri (containing the Awadhi special Sheermal, Taftan Naan, Chironji Naan and Ajwani Naan). The food was too good .Wish we had an extra tummy !!!

And now for the best part of every meal, the Desserts !! My goodness … just the desserts had so manyyyy choices …. !!! They were in all shapes , colors , regions … a treat to anyone’s eyes !!

If these were not enough … there was a specially made family size Royal Orchid combo special dessert which included different flavored ice creams , variety of dessets , chocolate sauce etc spread over crepe. I actually didnt feel like cutting such a pretty looking dessert . It was very very tasty but too heavy for a family of four.

All in all, we had a nice relaxed Sunday afternoon accompanied with sumptuous brunch at the Royal Orchid … I would definitely recommend it for anyone for a  relaxing royal Sunday experience. The brunch opens from 11.30 AM-  till 3.30 PM.
