Potato Tawa Fry or Aloo Rava Fry belonging to the Konkani cuisine is an easy recipe where aloo is sliced , marinated with few basic spices, coated with rava and lastly pan-fried till it turns crispy . Crispy from outside n soft from inside.. this Aloo fry is our absolute fav 😋Perfect for weekday meals, tastes so good with Dal chawal / rasam rice/ curd rice or as such. It’s super crispy , spicy and above all super easy to make .

Ingredients :
Aloo – Potato : Use fresh, firm aloo to make best fry .
Following the same recipe you can replace potato with raw banana, sweet potato, bread fruit etc .
Spices : Aloo is marinated with a spicy paste, that includes everyday spices such as haldi , salt , red chilli powder, hing .
Rava / Semolina – Rava or semolina is used for coating the spiced Aloo slices before frying them. It adds to crispiness
Oil: Any type of cooking oil can be used in shallow frying the potato slices.
Aloo Tawa Fry Recipe with step by step photos :
- Peel 2-3 Aloo and slice them into uniform slices . The slices should be neither too thick or thin. Maintain this thickness for potato while slicing , if you make the slices too thin , the texture wont come good . If you make too thick , they wont cook properly
- Place the slices in water till ready t o use .
- Now prepare a marination masala. In a plate , take salt to taste , 2-3 tsp red chilli powder , 1/2 tsp haldi and 1/4 tsp hing . Add very little water and make a thick paste. The paste should be like a thick chutney consistency
- Drain aloo from water n apply paste to each slice. Marinate for 15 mins.
- For coating. In a small plate, mix 1 cup of fine rava, 1/2 tsp red chili powder and 1/2 tsp salt . Mix and keep aside.
- Coat each aloo slice with rava.
- Heat oil for frying in a pan / tawa. Arrange the rava coated aloo slices on the pan. Drizzle 1-2 tablespoon oil , shallow fry or pan fry till golden & crisp. Cover and cook.
- Cover and cook on medium flame. When one side is crisp , flip and let the other side too get crisp on low flame .
- Enjoy !!

Ingredients
- 2-3 nos Aloo / Potato
- Oil to make tawa fry
To marinate
- 2 -3 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric / Haldi
- 1/4 tsp Hing /Asafoetida
- Salt to taste
For coating
- 1 cup 1 cup Fine rava / chiroti rava, or as required
- 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
Instructions
