About Peas Uttapam :

Instant Peas uttapam is a soft , spongy dosa that’s easy to make , tasty to taste and can be made in no time- needs no fermentation !! Such a life saver .. a keeper recipe for sure !

Healthy ,colorful and super easy …

You can make it as uttapam or spread thin like dosa , both taste good.

Peas Uttapam Recipe with step by step photos :

  • To a mixer blender , add 1 cup green peas , 2-3 nos green chilli ,small piece ginger ,few sprig of coriander leaves ,tsp jeera and salt to taste .
  • Add water as required and blend to a paste. Grind smooth .
  • To a mixing bowl , add 1 cup of fine rava , 2-3 tsp rice flour ,peas puree , 1/2 cup butter milk and 1/2 cup water . Combine well to make a smooth lump free batter .
  • Rest for 15 -20 mins .  ( if you soak 1 hour also nothing will happen )
  • After the soaking time , you will see that the batter would have thickened a bit . Add 1/2 tsp baking soda and water as required to adjust consistency. The consistency of peas uttapam batter should be like normal dosa .
  • Heat a cast iron pan or non-stick pan. Pour a laddle full of batter and slightly spread it. No need to make thin ,make like pancake.
  • Top it with handful of veggies to make your choice of uttapam . Gently tap the uttapam . Drizzle few drops of oil
  • Flip n cook both sides .
  • Enjoy soft spongy Instant Peas Uttapam with your choice of Chutney or Sambar or kurma

Points to note :

  • You can use fresh or frozen green peas .
  • Instead of fine rava or chiroti rava , you could use upma rava or medium rava , .
  • Resting the batter for minimum 15-20 mins is a must . Gives a good texture .
  • Do not skip eno or cooking soda . This is what adds porous ,spongy texture , reacting with the curd
  • Use little tangy curd / butter milk as far as possible for best result . Since it’s a no ferment dosa , using little tangy curd improves the taste .
  • If you want to skip curd , instead of it add 1/2 tsp of citric acid crystals ( nimbu uppu / nimbu ke phool ) for tanginess .
