Shivaratri is a Hindu festival celebrated is a Hindu festival celebrated every year in honor of the god Shiva. Shivaratri falls on the Krishna Paksha, in the month of Magha, and is celebrated all over the country as ‘Mahashivaratri. On Shivaratri day , devotees observe fast, visit Shiva temple ,perform puja ( or abhisheka ) and chant shlokas . Many people practice meditation and do jagaran through out the night . It is believed that , doing so gives strengthens us with positive energy and awakens our inner soul .
On Shivaratri day , devotees fast , eat fruits , satwik food or poha based- sabudana based dishes . The recipes and dishes varies from region to region.
